Open Mic Poetry Night

Please join us at Abi's Books & Brews to reflect on the struggles, victories, and journey toward a more just world for all people and the planet. Let your voice be part of the movement for change. In collaboration with Brilliance Behind Bars, we will read stories written by those who can not be present to share.

Reflection Questions:

• How can we create a world where both the land and all people are cared for and nurtured?
• What role does nature or the environment play in your understanding of racial and cultural identity?
• Can you remember witnessing environmental destruction? How did it make you feel?
• In what ways does environmental trauma mirror the personal and collective pain experienced through incarceration, systemic injustice, or historical oppression?

Please RSVP to share your work or listen to others!

If you would like to share your writing at the event, please email klassiter@vaipl.org to sign up. Day of sign-ups welcome as well.
